Lindsey is an award-winning musician, author and photographer

Lindsey, originally from Glasgow, Scotland, has worked as a musical director, composer and pianist in the UK theatre industry for nearly 15 years. After having trained at the University of St Andrews (MA Joint-Hons French and Spanish WIYA) and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (MA Musical Theatre, Musical Direction with Distinction), Lindsey has gone on to collaborate with some of the biggest theatre companies in the world such as the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and The National Theatre in London. In her work as an award-winning composer, she has been commissioned to write original music for the RSC, English National Ballet as well as several digital productions. She has musically directed original cast recordings and live-to-cinema broadcasts for the RSC which have played to thousands of people around the world. Lindsey is a visiting lecturer at various drama schools in the UK such as Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, working with actors, musical theatre actors, actor-musicians and musical directors alike. She also runs her own ‘Elevate’ programme, providing mentorship, support and training to aspiring actors and musical directors from around the globe.

Lindsey is also a published author and photographer. Her first book North Korea: Like Nowhere Else (September Publishing) was published in 2021 and has since been translated into Mandarin Chinese and Korean. Her book has regularly hit Amazon’s bestseller lists for travel writing and travel photography and was published to widespread critical acclaim. Lindsey and her work which focuses on conveying the humanity of North Korean people has been featured on CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The Telegraph, National Geographic, BBC, Voice of America and elsewhere. Her photography work as well as being in her book, has also appeared at exhibitions in South Korea and elsewhere. Lindsey is proud to be an ally and advocate for Liberty In North Korea (LiNK) where she is proud to collaborate on a common mission of freedom for the North Korean people.

Lindsey was also the runner-up for the National Geographic’s Travel Writing Competition in 2021 with her story, The Market Behind The Mountains.

Lindsey is a French, Spanish and Thai speaker.

Lindsey has appeared on several podcasts and regularly speaks at events about her work within the music industry as well as on North Korean human rights. She has appeared on The Music Room, Creative Cuppa, Meeting Musos, Upgrade Your Day, NK News, among many others. She also wrote and performed a monologue about an experience in North Korea for the popular RISK! podcast called, Where Goodbye Is Forever.

Lindsey is also a qualified Reiki Master Practitioner and Reiki Master Teacher. She also enjoys reading, hiking, fostering dogs, and travelling around east and south east Asia.
